Last September I spent ten days staying at the Bellamar hotel in San Antonio. It is a four star resort situated on the outskirts of San Antonio, in the Bahia district. This suited us fine as it was close enough to the nightlife to be able to walk there, but far enough away to be able to sleep (I would say ‘at night’ but in true Ibiza style we didn’t sleep at night at all)!
The hotel was great; the rooms were spacious, modern, and cleaned daily. Our room had a nice balcony (with sea views) Satellite TV, a telephone, safe (we paid for extra this), en-suite bathroom, fridge, and most importantly sound proofed walls (you do need this in San Antonio)! The complex had a swimming pool, gym, restaurant (the buffet breakfast was good). The pool area was also clean, had plenty of sun beds, and a café selling mainly fast food, and drink (including alcohol).
The beach and bars were close by and the San Antonio bus service was reliable. We often used the night bus on the way back from clubbing. The beach had fine white sand, and plenty of sunset bars. We ended up frequenting a bar close to Café del Mar, more than the famous Café del Mar itself.
We spent most of the week going on bar crawls at night in San Antonio, visiting the same three restaurants (our favourites), and lazing on the beach during the day (well what we saw of the day)! However on two occasions we ventured out beyond the pool and beach.
The first was to the water park, brilliant and highly recommended. Apparently there are two water parks in Ibiza we went to the one closest to San Antonio in Playa den Bossa. It is very easy to find, and has loads of slides, so you can easily spend the whole day there, but you can easily burn, so be careful as I wasn’t nearly enough! There are lockers for your bags whilst you are in the water, and plenty of fast food outlets for lunch. There is one of those sheer drop slides which I must admit I did not brave, but I did go on the rest of the flumes and they were a lot of fun.
Our second day trip was to a horse riding ranch in Cala Llonga (a small resort not to far from San Antonio). We took a taxi, and had a great afternoon, and it was definitely the highlight on my holiday. We did also try to wake board (like skateboarding on water), easier said than done, but a lot of fun.

International adventure travel: Safaris, balloon tours, swimming with dolphins, bicycling down volcanos, trekking in the Himalayas, Walmart on Christmas Eve - the list is almost endless. This will not be a comprehensive listing of all the adventure opportunities out there. Instead, here is just enough to whet your appetite.
My Own International Adventure Travel
Long before hitchhiking across the country at sixteen-years-old, I had a taste for adventure. At fourteen, a friend and I bicycled 300 miles in a few days during one summer. At seventeen, I went international with my adventuring, hitchhiking from Michigan to half-way across Mexico. Over forty now, I no longer put out my thumb - not very often, anyhow - but I still love to travel.
More recently, my international adventure travel took me to Ecuador.
While there I climbed to the furthest point from the center of the Earth. Everest is highest above sea level, but due to the Earth’s bulge at the equator, the peak of Mount Chimborazo, at 20,600 feet, is farther from from the center of our planet. The top is all snow, ice, and glaciers. My guide didn’t speak English, and thought I was a mountaineer. I had once used an ice axe and crampons to go forty feet up a sledding hill, in Michigan. The rest of the story is on the website, but you can get information and a guide by talking to almost any hotel manager in Riobamba, Ecuador.
Go On A Jungle Book Safari
In southern Nepal, In the Royal Chitwan National Park, you can see tigers, leopards, rhinos, and sloth-bears. And where better to see them from than the back of a large elephant? The tours are lead by naturalists and park rangers. Stay in the comfortable Safari Lodge and take daily tours into the jungle.
Take A Mongolian Horseback TrekTravel with one of the great nomadic and horse-based cultures of the world. The trips take you beyond tourist routes, and you can customize your trek to fit your schedule and budget. These tours are run from an office in Mongolia, and they provides experienced guides that are multi-lingual.
Go Rock Climbing In Rio
Want an outdoor adventure and city nightlife? Try a rock climbing tour in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. You’ll find routes for all skill levels in the Sugar Loaf, Urca, Corcovado and Pedra da Gavea mountains. Tours include bilingual instructors, equipment rentals, and transportation, and start at under $100 per person.
Swim With Dolphins In The Croatian Sea
Escape from the cold this winter, to the Cres-Lošinj group of islands, which is known for it’s mild climate. Mali Lošinj on the island of Lošinj is known for its health resort, but recently, the area is becoming famous for the bottle-nosed dolphins that have made their homes in the clear and clean waters of the Cres-Lošinj group of islands. Mingle with them by boat or in your swimsuit.
Climb Mount Kinabalu
Mt. Kinabalu (4101m) is the king of the Borneo sub-continent. It rises 3000 feet higher than other mountains in the area; far above the jungle. It attracts international climbers of all skill levels, who scramble, climb and trek in its unique jungle-alpine enviroment. Kinabalu is in a world heritage site that boasts a wide variety of plants and animals. Experienced guides will take you trekking, or take you to the top.

How To Plan Cheap Maui Family Vacations
Great beaches, lush surroundings, charming people, rave parties. What more can you ask from a vacation trip? When you go to Maui, you will have these things and so much more. Unfortunately, going there is not as cheap as it seems.
Tickets can skyrocket depending on the season. The same goes with the hotel fees and the food costs. This is especially true if the whole family is going to the trip. But with the right resources, you can actually plan cheap Maui family vacations. Here are some of the things that you have to do.
Book early.
Booking early will save you as much as 60 percent of your total airline ticket costs. This is already an answered prayer for families who are planning a family trip but cannot afford too much expenses. A lot of airlines right now have existing promos for people who book early. You will be given large discounts.
Just make sure that you will be taking the trip though as it is much harder to cancel or reschedule tickets that have been part of a promo. Make sure also that you know what the promo entails before purchasing the tickets.
Book off season
Another secret to cheap family vacation trips to Maui is to book off season. This will not only significantly lower your airline expense, it will also lessen the prices of hotel accommodations and food costs. You see, most hotels and merchants in Maui jack up their prices during peak season.
The same goes with the airlines, who do not have promos during peak seasons. One problem with this set up is the schedule of the kids. So make sure that you have the schedule all worked out before getting those tickets.
Bring your own food
If you can take with you food for the vacation, go on and do it. This is especially true if you are staying in rental houses, where you can cook your own food. Even hotels permit guests to bring in food inside their rooms. This is a cheaper alternative to eating out or buying at the grocery store in Maui which is probably more expensive.
One downside for this is the bulk of the baggage that you will have to take with you to Maui. But if you have the extra hand to carry it, why not? You can always have it checked in as a baggage. Besides, when you go home, you’ll not be carrying it anymore.
Research on the internet
The internet is a wonderful resource where you can find just absolutely anything that you want. So read on travel sites. For sure there is a feature there about Maui.
There you will find hotels, rental houses, car rentals, restaurants that are cheaper than the usual tourist spots. In fact, these places are sometimes the more authentic ones. Read their reviews. This will give you a fairly good idea on where to get cheaper deals in the island without sacrificing the experience.
So you see, when you know how to look, where to look, and what to do, it is not really that hard to plan cheap Maui family vacations. You just have to make an effort and go the extra mile. Cheap is not so impossible to achieve.
